Addressing the double burden of disease through a preadolescent transdisciplinary intervention for
inter-generational outcomes
Implementing interventions early in childhood, could potentially carry lessons learned into adulthood and could also influence health behaviours amongst their parents (upon whom children are most dependent for their health needs and well-being).
Utilising inter-generational knowledge transfer mechanisms and engaging sectors like the education and health sectors represents a valuable approach to harness the power of prevention and promotion strategies.
Responding to the Changing Health Needs of the South African Workforce - A Gender & Age Distribution Study
...research shows that females are willing to take on labour intensive jobs in industrialised environments, exposing them to conditions and risks that male employees are exposed to. Moreover, in jobs that require peak physical fitness, young female employees of child bearing ages are hired, unaware of the impending risks to them and their families.
Advancing Financial Inclusion – Catalysing Change Beyond Financial Literacy
A Model for Improvement
There is overwhelming evidence across global populations that indicates that financial literacy falls significantly short of even the most fundamental standards, presenting a huge void and creating substantial socio-economic hurdles for families, businesses, economies, and governments alike. Assessing Financial literacy however is a complex task, with even developed countries grappling with significant levels of financial illiteracy.
Most financial literacy programmes focus on only one of the two implementation constructs crucial for success - applied implementation, which stresses tools and methods for execution, neglecting critical aspects of implementation research, such as impact assessment, adoption, acceptability, appropriateness, fidelity, reach, sustainability, and contextual relevance.
This narrow focus fails to comprehensively evaluate the effectiveness and holistic impact of these programs. Rather than solely emphasizing financial literacy, there is a need to broaden the scope of intervention strategies that embrace a holistic approach that addresses the multifaceted challenges faced by communities.
Critical Information Rerouting
to Communities without access to Technology
Communities in rural areas suffer disproportionately from a lack of resources, poor infrastructure and often access to basic information or information sources. While this lack of access to information may at times have unintentional positive benefits (healthy eating and healthy ageing), most have detrimental, often serious and crippling consequences, which could have been prevented or mitigated.
In addition to revealing our vulnerabilities, the recent challenges posed by COVID-19 has highlighted the need for accurate, authenticated information from reliable and trustworthy sources, the need for efficient methods to transmit information rapidly, and the need to assist in the understanding or translation of this information to encourage or prompt individuals to act.
The Simple Yet Critically Needed Programme
(SYNC®)
The Simple Yet Critically Needed Programme (SYNC), developed by KARTHUR R&C, strategically identifies crucial, yet often overlooked and neglected change nodes, touchpoints, systems and processes for the implementation of knowledge-based interventions customised to benefit those who interact with it.
The programme’s objective is to disseminate knowledge and educate individuals, and direct society to act or modify their attitudes and behaviour for immediate to long-term benefits
